THE WICKERMAN FESTIVAL 2008

The festival draws inspiration from 1973 cult classic horror movie The Wickerman, and, like the film, culminates with a sacrificial torching of a 30-foot wicker man on the Saturday night.

Since being established in 2002 the festival now extends across 120 acres of farmland near Kirkcudbright, Scotland where much of the film original filming was done. The event tries to emulate the counter-culture festival feel which organiser believe is lost in the commercialisation of bigger events.

The event tries to emulate the counter-culture festival feel which organiser believe is lost in the commercialisation of bigger events.

The two-day bash is infamous for its atmosphere and family-friendly vibe and caters for an eclectic taste in music with eight stages pumping out dance, reggae, ska, world music, Northern Soul, funk and rock.

There's also workshops, a children's area, beer tent, craft stalls and a cinema to keep everybody entertained.less
