Welcome to Virtual Festivals Europe

| 03 October 2008

Virtual Festival Europe - or eu.virtualfestivals.com - aims to unite the entire European festival community within one content-packed portal, allowing users to interact alongside listings, news, reviews, photos and features.

The site has been built for YOU to connect with like-minded fans from across the continent and find out about alternative events from further afield.

Featuring thousands of festivals, VF Europe won't be completed until early 2009 but we thought we'd give you a first glimpse of what's to come.

And to kick things off we're using the new site to host voting for the Best European Festival category in the forthcoming UK Festival Awards.

Giants from the European festival scenes, such as Benicassim, Lowlands, Roskilde, Sziget and last year's winner EXIT, are just a few of the nomineess up for the prestigious award.

Take a look at the longlist and cast your vote HERE. The eventual winner of Best European Festival will be announced at the UK Festival Awards ceremony on 30 October. More on the UK Festival Awards HERE.

Virtual Festivals Europe has been launched in partnership with Yourope (The European Festival Association) and will seek to aggregate more than 3000 music festivals, 20,000 performing artists and 50 Million festival-goers across 45 countries.

As well as delivering comprehensive listings information, breaking news and editorial, the Virtual Festivals Europe site will empower visitors to:

• Find and connect to events, artists and other users that match their personal preferences (from geographical location to music taste).

• Collectively document the festival scene in real time by uploading their own reviews, blogs, ratings, photos and videos.

• Set the standard of the future of the festival landscape by broadcasting their feedback via comments, postings, ratings and voting in the Best European Festival Award.

The full version of Virtual Festivals Europe is due to launch at the start of 2009 with all the information and listings for the year ahead.
