R.E.M. round off T In The Park
United Kingdom | |
14 July 2008
Returning to the festival for the first time in five years, Michael Stipe and Co opened with 'Living
Well Is The Best Revenge' before rolling out hits such as 'Losing My Religion', 'The One I Love' and 'It's
The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)'.
T In The Park fans were treated to
a rare airing of 'Ignoreland', a track which has hardly ever been played live, during the 23-song set as well as tracks
like 'Electrolite', 'Bad Day' and 'Drive'.
Finale 'Man On The Moon', prompted a
mass sing-a-long as the quartet brought another T In The Park to a close, but the crowd was substantially downsized as many
were watching The Prodigy on the NME/Radio 1 Stage.
R.E.M. played:

Liam Howlett and his dance troupe proved wildly popular as they bruised the crowd with tracks like 'Out Of
Space', 'Breathe' and 'Spitfire'.
Amy
Winehouse was on her best behaviour as she attracted one of the biggest crowds of the weekend on the Main Stage.
Dedicating 'Wake Up Alone' to her husband, the singer ran through tracks like 'Tears Dry On Their Own', 'Love
Is A Losing Game' and staple cover of The Zutons' 'Valerie', which revived the loudest cheer of the set.
"This is the best gig we've played in years," announced The Charlatans' frontman Tim Burgess as his band wowed crowds in the King Tut's
Wah Wah Tent with hits like 'The Only One I Know', 'Weirdo' and 'Black And Blue Eyes'.
Hot Chip delivered a sparse, yet entertaining, set in the Pet Sounds
Arena that included 'Ready For The Floor', 'Over and Over', 'Boy From School' and a cover of Prince's
'Nothing Compares 2 U', following ex-Formula One boss, Eddie Jordan, surprising the audience by performing
with his band Eddie and the Robbers.
The band, with Jordan on drums, covered David Bowie's 'Heroes', Fleetwood Mac's 'Black Magic Woman',
Bob Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone' and 'I'm Waiting (For The Man)' by The Velvet Underground.
Other highlights included Kings Of Leon, Black Kids, Justice,
The Enemy and The Zutons. Click HERE for our Rated!
