Snowbombing 2007 goes LIVE!

Austria Austria | | 02 November 2006

Snowbombing takes place in the Austrian town of Mayrhofen from 9-15 April, offering a unique mix of skiing or boarding by day and ground-breaking music by night.

The festival has traditionally staged DJs due to the logistics in getting bands and equipment up the Alpine resort, but following the success of last year's event and the surge in popularity for live music, organisers have changed tack.

The first live acts confirmed are The Young Knives, Rumble Strips, The Sunshine UndergroundVincent Vincent and the Villains, Pull Tiger Tail, Kitty Daisy and Lewis, The Cuban Brothers, Mr Hudson and the Library, Kid Carpet and Louie Austen, with more to be announced.

Looking forward to the festival, Henry from The Young Knives said: “Snowbombing is gonna be great! It’s going to be the first year playing there, and a whole new experience playing on top of a mountain! What a breath of fresh air! Its good to know that decent festivals happen in the winter too!”

Despite the influx of live acts, there will still be loads of top DJs. Scratch Perverts, James Zabiela, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Justice, M.A.N.D.Y, The Cuban Brothers, Touché, Tayo, Frank Tope, Evil Nine, Joe Ransom, Sancho Panza and Soul of Man are all confirmed.

Other DJs playing at venues across the town include Jeff Automatic, Ame, Lopazz, Heidi, Scott Nixon, Greg Wilson, Barry Peters, DJ Mehdi, DJ Feadz, Busy P, Bill Brewster, Todd Terje, Earl Gateshead, MC Chucky Banton, MC Super Four, Sinden, Trickski, Trevor Loveys and Sombrero Sound System.

New for 2007 will be two new party venues, the I-Pyramid and the Arctic Disco, which will join old favourites like the legendary street party, this year hosted by Guilty Pleasures, and the dozen or so other venues throughout Mayrhofen.

Special packages, including accommodation, ski passes and entertainment wristbands, are available now from around £250. Click here for more.

Gareth Cooper from Snowboarding said: “We’re very pleased to add the live element to Snowbombing, which we feel reinforces our position as one of the biggest winter festivals in Europe.

"Watching bands playing at 2000 metres with the snow capped Austrian alps in the background is certainly different. Without being cheesy, it’s a right laugh from start to finish.”

Don't believe Gareth? Read our review of last year's event right HERE. Trust us, it's great.
