Global Gathering Set To Smash Records
United Kingdom | |
24 July 2006
Global Gathering 2006 takes place at Long Marston Airfield , Stratford-On-Avon, on Friday and Saturday (28-29 July), the second year running the event has been spread over two days.
Tickets availble here.
Set to break UK records for the biggest dance festival and the largest number of DJs and acts in one place, Global Gathering will be celebrating with something never seen at a festival in this country - a flower drop.
A Dutch company called Flower Rain will host three flower drops over the site. A helicopter will fly 200 metres above the Long Marston Airfield, pouring out roughly 100,000 chrysanthemums and anemone’s each time on the crowds below.
William Willems, the artistic brain behind the idea said: “This is the first time we
are bringing the blossom rain to the UK and our missions is to spread love joy and amazement over the good people at Global
Gathering.”
The festival will feature living legends from the dance scene, including headliners Daft Punk, Groove
Armada and Fatboy Slim, plus Tiesto,
Paul Van Dyk, Erick Morillo, Audio Bullys, Roni Size,
Sasha & Digweed and Paul Oakenfold. Full lineup
here.
The dance arenas will be even larger, the Radio 1 beach stage will have even more sand and the campsite
has quadrupled in size.
A spokesman for Global Gathering said: "The larger capacity campsite means people can pitch their tents enjoying more space between themselves and their party going neighbours. Campers will also be able to take advantage of fairground rides and a giant outdoor cinema to keep guests entertained when the main festival site closes down each night showing a collection of movies to suit all tastes."
Also new for 2006 is a Silent Disco on the Friday equipped with 3,500 headphones. Revellers will be able to flick between two DJ channels that allow them to listen to everything from Nirvana to Frank Sinatra.
Other additions to the festival include a climbing wall and bungee jump, a outdoor 'cult film' cinema and the legendary PodPads, which give people with a bit of spare cash to spend the chance to sleep in luxury without having to put up a tent!
Tickets
