New acts for new stage at T

Jose Gonzalez, Corinne Bailey Rae, Animal Collective, Regina Spektor, and Death Cab For Cutie will all play in the brand new Pet Sounds Arena at this year's T In The Park. Read on for more bands...

The all new 8,000 capacity Pet Sounds Arena will replace the 2,000 capacity X-Tent.

Named after the 1966 Beach Boys album, the new venue has been created to celebrate cutting-edge international talent and, erm, Corinne Bailey Rae from Leeds, who will take to the stage on Saturday 8 July along with previously announced acts Sigur Ros, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals.

On the Sunday (10 July) Death Cab For Cutie, Jose Gonzales, Animal Collective and Regina Spektor will do the honours. Expect more to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, over to the Main Stage, The Subways have been announced to return to Balado on the Sunday. On the same day, Dirty Pretty Things will play the Radio 1/NME Stage, preceded by We Are Scientists. Wolfmother will play the same tent on the Saturday.

Over at the King Tut's Tent, more additions have also been made by festival organisers. Former Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli will entertain the crowd in the legendary tent on the Saturday while The Futureheads take to the stage the following day.

TITP boss Geoff Ellis said: "We are really pleased to introduce the much larger and all new Pet Sounds Arena this year in place of the X-Tent. Pet Sounds Arena seemed to be the perfect name for this stage because it suggests something personal about the fan's love of music. It is also the name one of the most influential albums of all time and we hope that this stage will house influential iconic artists for years to come. We are also increasing the size of the Futures Stage in order to allow more fans to enjoy the artists on this stage too.

"The Main Stage is looking as strong as usual with some of the biggest bands in the world right now, alongside a few bands that performed on other stages last year and have just gone from strength to strength like Kaiser Chiefs and The Magic Numbers."
